The women in Peter Brook’s company were incredible.   For twenty years, their free spirits have stayed within me.  Miriam, Natasha Perry, Michelle George, Liz Swados and Helen Mirren.  Luckily for me, Helen and I would share a small room together with one big window, where I’d gaze out into the night sky and wonder what lay ahead.  Helen took me under her wing that summer.  Immediately, we drove to San Jose and my father helped her buy a cherry-red convertible, and she sped through San Juan Bautista, population 1200, in search of action and me in search of myself.
